Felix the Red Fox

Our friend Felix here is a member of the red fox species, which is the most common type of fox in the world (found in every continent except Antarctica). They are the largest species of fox and are often seen as a nuisance to birds and small mammal populations. Foxes are great at finding and digging into tunnels to flush out their prey. They also love fruits and veggies as many gardeners are well aware of! Foxes are important to humans as their fur has a long history of being used for warm clothes before synthetic fabrics were invented. Foxes tend to live close to humans so they can feed off of their different food sources. Today, some new fox breeds are even starting to be able to be domesticated by humans and live as pets. Imagine that!
