The Risso dolphin is also known as the Monk Dolphin. These large headed dolphins can be found in waters around every continent except for Antartica. These social mammals usually travel in groups of up to fifty or so, although there have been ‘superpods’ sighted with thousands traveling together. The Russo dolphin is a protected species for most countries in the world, but is still hunted in a handful of areas: Japan, Indonesia, the Solomon Islands, and The Lesser Antilles.
