A blimp is a type of airship that is held up completely by helium in the balloon, or ‘envelope’ above the passenger car. The tailfins on a blimp allow the operator to steer this massive vehicle, and special fans can help give thrust and keep a blimp moving around stadiums, beaches, and other public places. Blimps are the successor to the much heavier Zeppelins that were built with a heavy metal skeleton. Though zeppelins are better built for difficult weather conditions and even war situations, blimps are essentially hot air balloons that a person can steer. Whether our airship below is a a balloon or a blimp doesn’t really matter, as long as you give it the color it deserves!
